so when I found out my new manager was a capricorn I panicked a little lol. cancer sun here, very feelings-first, and I'd heard capricorns are all business no heart
first month was rough tbh. I'd bring up how a project made me feel and she'd just go straight to "ok so what's the next step" and I took it so personally at first
but like... 6 months in and she's honestly one of the best managers I've had? she doesn't do the warm fuzzy check-ins I crave but she ALWAYS has my back when it counts, remembers stuff I mentioned once, and gives me structure I didn't know I needed
turns out I just needed to stop expecting her to show up like a cancer would. she shows care through reliability and follow-through, not through talking about feelings
anyone else work under a capricorn and have it click eventually?
omg yes. my capricorn boss doesn't do small talk at all and I used to think she hated me lol. took me way too long to realize thats just how she is with everyone
Looking at this from a chart perspective - cancer and capricorn are opposite signs on the zodiac wheel, so this dynamic makes total sense. Opposites often struggle at first because they express care in completely different languages, but they balance each other really well long term.
Cancer brings the emotional intelligence and intuition, capricorn brings the structure and follow-through. In a work context specifically, that combo can be really productive once the initial friction wears off - which sounds like exactly what happened here.
the "remembers stuff I mentioned once" part hit hard, my capricorn coworker does this too and it genuinely makes me feel more seen than the people who ask how I'm doing every day and dont actually listen
