ok I know this might be controversial here but... I've been into astrology for years and I genuinely think the compatibility stuff has gotten out of hand
like I've seen people refuse to date someone just because they're a scorpio or whatever?? and I'm sitting here like... I'm a libra who's been with a capricorn for 4 years and we're doing amazing. we're "supposed" to be incompatible
I think sun sign compatibility is basically astrology for beginners and most of the internet just runs with it as gospel. the real picture is so much more complex — moon signs, rising signs, venus placements, the whole chart — but nobody talks about that when they're venting about geminis in the dating apps lol
I still love astrology don't get me wrong. but the whole "don't date a [sign]" energy bothers me. it reduces real people to a stereotype and honestly I think it keeps people from connections they'd actually be great in
anyone else feel this way? or am I the odd one out here
honestly??? YES. I'm a scorpio and the amount of times people have written me off before even talking to me is wild. like congrats you eliminated me based on my birthday
You're touching on something real here. Sun sign compatibility is the most surface-level layer of synastry — it's like judging a book by its genre without reading the back cover.
When I look at two people's full charts together, I'm checking Venus-Mars aspects, north node connections, composite charts... the sun is maybe 20% of the picture? The moon sign alone tells you way more about emotional compatibility.
That said, I wouldn't dismiss the patterns entirely — fire and air signs do tend to share a certain energy that earth and water sometimes struggle to match. But "never date a capricorn" is just... not how this works.
wait the "compatible signs" stuff is beginners astrology?? genuinely did not know that. I've been judging everyone by their sun sign this whole time lol
I think the compatibility posts go viral because they're fun and relatable not because they're meant to be taken literally? but yeah when people actually make life decisions off it that's when it gets weird
omg @WillowBreeze that's exactly the thing that bothers me. people are basically ghosting real humans based on a meme
and @MarcusAstro thank you for actually explaining this — I've been trying to tell people "check the full chart" but I didn't have the language to back it up
