so I did a simple 3-card past/present/future spread about my job situation and got the three of wands reversed in the present position
I've been waiting on a promotion decision for like 6 weeks now and honestly I'm losing my mind. the three of wands upright feels like expansion and looking ahead, so reversed feels like... stuck? like the ship isn't coming in?
I know reversed can mean delays or plans not going how you hoped but I'm not sure if it's telling me to wait it out OR if something is actively being blocked and I should be taking action
does anyone have experience with this card reversed in a career context specifically? would love to hear how you interpreted it
ugh the waiting game for a promotion is the WORST. I got three of wands reversed around the time I was applying for a new job and ended up reframing it as "the timing isn't right yet" rather than "it's blocked forever"
turns out the job I was waiting to hear back from wasn't the right fit anyway - a better one came up a few weeks later. not saying that'll be your situation but reversed doesn't always mean NO, sometimes it means NOT YET
The cards are so wise here, and I love this question.
Three of Wands reversed in a career reading often speaks to frustration when momentum has stalled - you've done the work, cast your nets, and now you're watching the horizon waiting for results that haven't arrived yet.
What I'd invite you to consider: is the delay external (decision-makers are slow, processes take time) or internal (something in YOU is hesitating, second-guessing, or not fully showing up as ready for this next step)?
Sometimes this card reversed is an invitation to revisit your plan and ask - is there anything you can strengthen or clarify while you wait? The ship isn't late, it may just need a little more wind from you. Trust your inner knowing on this.
sarah k's point about internal vs external delay is so good. I never thought about it that way before
thank you all so much, this really helped shift my perspective. I think I've been so focused on the external timeline that I wasn't asking myself if there was anything I could actually DO in the meantime
going to use this waiting period to put together a little portfolio of my recent wins just in case they ask. feels better than just refreshing my email lol
