ok so I did a reading about whether to pursue this person I've been seeing and pulled two cards to clarify
The Lovers came up first which obviously got me excited lol
but then Three of Swords right next to it
like... is this a yes with a huge warning attached?? or does the heartbreak cancel out the connection?? I'm so confused about how these two are supposed to work together when they seem like total opposites
Oh what a powerful combination to sit with! The cards whisper a nuanced message here...
The Lovers isn't just romantic love - it's about alignment, values, and conscious choice. When it sits beside the Three of Swords, it often signals that genuine connection is present, but there's some grief or past hurt (yours or theirs) that needs to be acknowledged before moving forward.
It's not a warning to walk away. It's more like: 'This could be real, but go in with eyes open and heart honest.' Trust your inner knowing about what needs to be discussed.
I got almost the exact same combo once! It turned out there was a past relationship on their end that hadn't fully healed yet.
we talked about it and it actually brought us closer. the cards were basically giving me a heads up so I wasn't blindsided later
the three of swords next to lovers can also mean you're choosing this connection despite past heartbreak - like your own healing is part of the journey
not all pain cards are stop signs imo
following this thread bc I need to know more about card combos in general. do you have any resources??
