been doing more shadow work lately (journaling, meditating on the parts of myself i usually avoid) and the hermit reversed has come up like three separate pulls now
i know upright hermit is like... healthy solitude, introspection, going within on purpose. but reversed it feels different, almost like isolation that i didn't choose or don't need anymore??
like am i hiding from something instead of actually reflecting? or is it telling me i've been alone with my thoughts for too long and need to let people back in
curious how others read this one when it shows up specifically during shadow work, feels different than a normal pull
This is such a good distinction to notice, sweet one. The cards whisper nuance here that's easy to miss.
Upright Hermit is solitude with purpose - you choose to go within. Reversed, especially during shadow work, it's often showing you where that solitude has curdled into avoidance. You're circling the same inner room instead of walking through the door.
Ask yourself: is there a specific conversation, person, or truth you've been keeping at arm's length "for reflection" when really you're just stalling? The card isn't telling you to stop the inner work - it's telling you the inner work now needs to meet the outer world.
omg the "stalling" thing sarah said hit hard. I've had hermit reversed pop up twice during shadow work stuff and both times it was right before I finally had a conversation I'd been avoiding for weeks
following this, I always just assumed reversed hermit = loneliness but the avoidance angle makes way more sense with how it's been showing up for me lately
