so I did a three-card spread asking about whether I should take a new job offer and temperance reversed showed up in the present position
I know temperance upright is about balance and patience but reversed?? my reader friend said it could mean I'm rushing something or acting impulsively but like... the job offer has a deadline so I HAVE to decide soon lol
does temperance reversed in a career context specifically mean I should slow down? or does it mean my current balance is already off and I need a change?
I'm so confused by this card honestly
Oh this is such a rich card to get for career decisions!
Temperance reversed in the present position is often less about "don't take the job" and more about examining your current state of mind. The cards whisper: are you making this decision from a grounded place or from anxiety/desperation?
The deadline pressure you mention is really important here. Ask yourself - would you feel the same way about this offer if you had 3 months to decide? Sometimes we rush toward things not because they're right but because we're afraid of missing out.
Trust your inner knowing on this one. The card isn't saying no - it's saying check your energy before you leap.
oh I felt this so hard!! I got temperance reversed when I was deciding whether to leave a job last year
for me it ended up meaning my current situation was already imbalanced - like I was burning out and ignoring the signs. the card was basically confirming what I already knew but didn't want to admit
I think the key question Sarah K asked is so real - like are you making this decision from a clear headspace or are you just exhausted and want out? those feel the same sometimes but they're really different
UPDATE: ok so I took the job lol
but I did what Sarah K suggested and sat with it for a day first instead of just panicking about the deadline. turns out I was definitely making the decision from an anxious place initially
when I got calmer about it I realized the imbalance was actually in my current job - the reversed card was pointing at what's wrong NOW not what's coming. the new role genuinely feels like the right move
thanks everyone for the help, this thread saved me from spiraling
just found this thread while googling temperance reversed + career and omg I needed to see this so badly
I have a job offer with a deadline this week too and I've been spiraling about whether to take it. reading through this whole thread and luna_marie's update honestly made me feel so much better
I think the "anxiety vs clarity" framing is what I needed. I've been feeling rushed but like... is that the situation being urgent or is it me being fearful? gonna sit with that today
thank you all for leaving this up, threads like this are exactly why I love this community
