ok so I've been reading with the rider waite for like 2 years and recently got the light seers tarot
and wow... the strength card in light seers is just SO different?? the energy feels softer somehow. like in RWS she's closing the lions mouth but in light seers its more like... mutual understanding between them
idk if this makes sense but it actually changed how I interpret the card now. anyone else notice huge differences in certain cards between decks?
omg yes!! I have the wild unknown and strength is a LITERAL lion there, no person at all. it took me forever to connect with it because I was so used to the woman/lion dynamic
but now I actually love it because its more about the raw power within you, not taming something external
the modern witch tarot has her with glasses and its giving librarian energy lol. very different vibe from the traditional golden imagery
I think thats what I love about collecting decks tho... each one shows you a new side of the cards
this is making me want to compare all my strength cards now haha. I have like 6 decks and never thought to look at them side by side
the light seers is so beautiful omg. I dont have that one but I noticed the same thing with my ethereal visions deck
the strength card there has this really soft pastel vibe and she looks almost like shes meditating with the lion?? completely different from the RWS energy
honestly I think different art helps us see different layers of the same card. like theyre all strength but each deck shows you a different facet of it
omg I love that you all get it!! @Bomster you should totally do a side by side comparison and post pics
I actually did that last night with my RWS and light seers and its wild seeing them next to each other. the RWS strength feels more like... asserting control? but the light seers one feels like building trust. both valid interpretations imo
also now I want the ethereal visions deck lol someone stop me from buying more decks
yesss the light seers is such a vibe shift from RWS!!
for me it was the devil card. in rider waite it feels so heavy and oppressive but in light seers its more like... acknowledging your shadows without the doom?
idk if deck shopping is a real thing but I feel like certain decks just click with how you personally interpret the cards. like the art changes the whole reading experience
YES this is so real!! I had the exact same experience switching from RWS to the Wild Unknown
the strength card in wild unknown is a snake instead of a lion and at first I was like... wait what?? but honestly it completely changed how I think about inner strength. like instead of taming something ferocious it became more about transformation and trusting yourself
now I use multiple decks and pull the same card from each when I really want to understand something. seeing the same archetype interpreted 3 different ways is weirdly helpful
have you tried comparing other cards too or just strength so far?
omg yes!! I had the exact same experience when I switched to the wild unknown
strength in that deck is just a tiger and a butterfly... no human at all. and somehow that made me understand the card SO much better? like the raw, untamed energy meeting something delicate
rubyreads had a great idea about the side by side comparison thing - I actually started a little notebook where I lay out the same card from each of my decks and just... sit with them. it's wild how different the symbolism hits depending on the artist's interpretation
the mutual understanding angle you described in light seers is giving me a lot to think about. that feels way more realistic to me tbh, like actual inner strength isn't about control it's about finding harmony with the "beast" inside you
this thread found me at the perfect time because I just got the fountain tarot and strength in that deck completely broke my brain lol
it's just this person with really quiet contained energy? no lion at all. and it made me realize I'd been reading strength as 'push through' when maybe it's more like... quiet persistence
definitely doing the side by side thing rubyreads mentioned. already pulled strength from my three decks and wow. same card, completely different conversations
