six of cups reversed in my celtic cross and im confused

ok so I did a celtic cross for myself about whether I should reconnect with some old friends from high school

the six of cups reversed showed up in the "hopes and fears" position (position 9) and im not sure how to read it??

like... is it saying im afraid of being stuck in the past? or that my hope for reconnection is misguided somehow?

the rest of the spread was pretty positive but this one is throwing me off. anyone good at celtic cross interpretations?

Oh this is such a layered position for the Six of Cups reversed!

In the hopes and fears position, cards often represent both - something we hope for AND fear simultaneously. With Six of Cups reversed here, I sense you might be hoping to recapture something from the past while also fearing that it won't be the same... or that you've idealized those friendships.

The reversal whispers: "The past wasn't quite as golden as you remember." This isn't necessarily bad - it might be protecting you from disappointment, or encouraging you to approach the reconnection with fresh eyes rather than nostalgia.

Trust your inner knowing. What feels true when you sit with that interpretation?

position 9 is always the trickiest one imo!! the hopes/fears thing is so confusing

but I think sarah's right about the duality. you might be scared of going back and finding out things have changed too much?

six of cups reversed usually means like... nostalgia that isnt serving you or rose-colored glasses about the past

maybe the spread is saying the rest looks good but you should go in without expectations? like reconnect but dont expect it to be exactly like before

omg thank you all this actually makes so much sense now. I think I WAS putting those friendships on a pedestal

I'm gonna reach out but try to treat it like making new friends instead of trying to recreate something. appreciate the help!!
