help. I did a full celtic cross about a situation with a friend I've been having tension with and seven of swords reversed showed up in the 'what crosses you' position (position 2)
normally I associate seven of swords with deception or sneaky behavior but reversed?? does that flip it? like the deception is being exposed? or does it mean I'M the one being sneaky somehow??
the rest of the spread was pretty balanced (ace of cups in the heart, two of wands in the future) so I'm confused what this one is doing here
seven of swords reversed in the crossing position is actually really interesting
in that spot it's what's working against you or blocking the situation. reversed 7 of swords often means that sneaky/avoidant behavior (yours OR theirs) is what's creating the tension
could be that someone isn't being fully honest in this friendship? or that you're not saying what you actually feel?
From a symbolic perspective, the Seven of Swords reversed in the crossing position carries nuanced meaning. The reversal of this card often signals that deceptive behavior or hidden agendas are coming to light - which in a position representing opposition, could suggest the tension with your friend stems from something that hasn't been said outright.
Historically, this card in its reversed form was sometimes read as 'coming clean' or confession energy. Worth considering: is there something either of you has been avoiding saying directly?
The Ace of Cups at the heart is a hopeful sign - the emotional foundation is genuine, even if communication is tangled.
the ace of cups at the heart + seven of swords reversed crossing you honestly sounds like... there's real care there but someone's been holding back / not being fully real
have you tried just being direct with this friend about whatever the tension is? that ace of cups suggests the connection is worth the awkward conversation
update: I just texted my friend and was like 'hey can we talk' and we ended up having the most honest conversation we've had in months
turns out we'd both been tiptoeing around something dumb. feel so much better now. cards really did call it
