so I did a reading to celebrate finally getting a promotion I've been working toward for like two years and pulled the nine of cups reversed as the clarifier card
like... isn't the nine of cups literally called the wish card?? and then reversed right when my wish actually came true??
I know reversed doesn't just mean the opposite but I'm struggling with this. is it saying I'm not as fulfilled as I expected? because honestly... that's kind of true? I expected to feel like popping champagne and instead I just felt exhausted and a little empty
does anyone else experience this disconnect when you achieve something big? and what does nine of cups reversed mean in a 'celebration' reading
Oh this is such a beautiful and honest reading!
The cards whisper something profound here. Nine of Cups reversed in a celebratory reading often points to what we call 'arrival fallacy' - the feeling that achievement should come with automatic joy. When it doesn't, we think something's wrong.
But trust your inner knowing - the card isn't saying you shouldn't be proud. It's gently pointing to the difference between external success and internal fulfillment. Ask yourself: what did I think this promotion would fix? That answer is your real work now.
The wish came true. Now what do you truly wish for?
wait the empty feeling after achieving something big is so real though?? I thought that was just me
I got a promotion last year and cried in my car after and couldn't figure out why lol. didn't think to do a reading but now I'm curious what I would have pulled
nine of cups reversed can also be about satisfaction that looks different than you imagined! like you got the wish but maybe the shape of it isn't quite what you pictured?
not a bad omen at all. just an invitation to figure out what you actually need now that you're here
thank you all for this!! the 'arrival fallacy' thing Sarah mentioned really hit me
I think you're all right - I was so focused on GETTING the promotion that I never really thought about what came after. now that I'm here I'm like... ok now what??
going to do another reading this weekend and ask 'what do I actually want now' instead of celebrating something that already happened lol
