I've been going back and forth about moving to a new city for like 6 months. my job is remote so I CAN move, I just keep hesitating
I finally did a reading specifically about this and got nine of cups reversed in the present position
I know nine of cups upright is like... wishes fulfilled, contentment, happiness. so reversed feels like those things are blocked somehow? or like I'm settling for less than I deserve?
I can't tell if the card is saying 'don't move because you won't be happy there' or 'move because you're not happy where you are now'
has anyone pulled nine of cups reversed about a major life change? how did you interpret it?
In all my years of reading, I've found nine of cups reversed to be one of the most nuanced cards in a major decision spread. It rarely means 'this will make you unhappy.'
The old ways teach us that reversed nines often speak to delayed gratification or misaligned expectations. Nine of cups reversed in the present position asks: are you holding back from true satisfaction because you fear wanting something for yourself? Or are you expecting this move to 'fix' something that needs internal work?
The card doesn't oppose the move. It asks you to examine what you believe happiness looks like - and whether you're allowing yourself to reach for it.
I got nine of cups reversed when I was deciding whether to change careers and I struggled with the same thing! ended up taking the leap and honestly the reversal made sense in retrospect - I had unrealistic expectations about how quickly things would be perfect
but it worked out once I adjusted my mindset. it wasn't about the decision itself being wrong
wait this interpretation question is so real. I always assumed reversed = bad outcome but some readers say reversed just means the energy is blocked or internalized not that the thing won't happen
ok the delayed gratification framing from Margaret T is really clicking for me
I think I've been waiting to feel 'ready' before I move and maybe that readiness will never come if I just keep waiting. like I'm blocking my own happiness by not making a decision
going to do a follow-up pull about what's keeping me stuck. thanks for the responses!!
