anyone else feel like they're speaking a completely different language with a parent, sign-wise?
my dad's a scorpio and i'm a virgo and it's like... he goes quiet and intense when something's bothering him, gives these one word answers, and i just want him to SAY the actual thing so i can help fix it lol
we love each other a lot but every disagreement turns into this weird standoff where neither of us says what we actually mean
anyone dealt with this parent-kid sign combo? does it get easier
lol yes. my mom's a scorpio and same thing, she goes silent instead of talking it out and i used to think that meant she was mad at ME specifically
This tracks really well astrologically. Scorpio is a fixed water sign - when hurt or overwhelmed, the instinct is to withdraw and process internally before speaking, sometimes for a while. Virgo is a mutable earth sign wired for analysis and problem-solving out loud.
So you're both actually trying to get to resolution, just on completely different timelines and through completely different methods. He needs the quiet to feel safe enough to eventually open up; you need the words to feel like anything is being addressed at all.
Something that helps a lot of Virgo-Scorpio parent-child pairs: name the pattern out loud when things are calm, not mid-conflict. Something like 'I know you need quiet time to process, can you give me a heads up when you're ready to talk instead of just going silent?' It removes the guessing game for both of you.
the 'fixed water sign needs to process before speaking' thing is so accurate, my scorpio brother is exactly like this
MarcusAstro this is really helpful, especially the bit about naming the pattern when things are calm
i brought it up with him last weekend when we weren't in the middle of anything and he actually opened up a bit about why he goes quiet. still a work in progress but feels like real progress for once
