does anyone else feel like they're speaking a completely different language than their capricorn parent??
my mom is very "have a plan, be practical, don't waste time on feelings" and I'm over here needing to process everything emotionally before I can even think about next steps
she means well but every time I try to talk to her about something that's bothering me she just jumps straight to solutions and it makes me feel unheard?? like I just want her to sit with me for a second before fixing it
anyone else have this dynamic with a capricorn parent. how do you get them to just listen sometimes
This is a really common Capricorn-Pisces parent dynamic and it makes sense once you look at how each sign processes the world.
Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign - their instinct under stress (including seeing their kid upset) is to DO something. Offering solutions is literally how Capricorn shows love and care.
Pisces is a mutable water sign - you process by feeling first, and you need the feeling to be witnessed before you're ready for solutions.
What tends to help: tell her explicitly what mode you need. Something like "I don't need advice right now, I just need you to listen for a few minutes" gives her a clear task, which Capricorn actually responds well to. Vague emotional cues will get jumped past every time - be direct about the ask.
the "jumps straight to solutions" thing is so real, my dad's the same way. saying "just listen for a sec" out loud actually works better than you'd think
tried the "I just need you to listen" line this week and she actually paused instead of jumping in immediately. small win but I'll take it
