ok so I've been studying reversals more seriously lately and I keep getting conflicting info about the knight of swords reversed
some sources say it's just the upright energy "blocked" or turned inward. but others say it's like... a completely different vibe? reckless vs calculated, impulsive vs paralyzed?
upright knight of swords feels very charge-ahead, cut through the noise, mental clarity. so does reversed mean he loses that drive? or does he go off in a chaotic way with no direction?
how do you personally read this card reversed differently from upright? curious if people have strong opinions lol
I always read it as the difference between assertive and aggressive tbh
upright knight of swords = speaks his mind, decisive, goes after what he wants. reversed = that same energy but without the control. like someone who thinks they're being direct but is actually just being kinda rude lol
Such a great question and honestly one that divides readers!
For me, the upright knight charges forward with purpose - he has a goal and he'll cut through anything to reach it. The reversed version shifts in a really specific way: the momentum is there but the direction is lost.
Think of it as a sword swung sideways instead of forward. The power doesn't disappear - it scatters. So reversed can mean scattered thoughts, talking before thinking, or ironically... complete mental paralysis. Both extremes of the same energy.
I'd ask yourself: in what area of your life are you either overthinking yourself into stillness OR reacting without pausing to aim?
this is so helpful!! I always struggled with this one
the "sword swung sideways" image actually clicks for me in a way none of the books managed to explain
I read it as the difference between speaking truth and just venting lol. upright he's saying what needs to be said. reversed he's saying everything that comes to mind whether it needs saying or not
learned that one the hard way when I pulled it for a conversation I was about to have... ignored it and definitely said too much
