ok so this might be a bit personal but I wanted to share in case anyone else relates
I started pulling cards about a year ago during a really rough patch mentally. anxiety was through the roof, couldn't sleep, the whole thing. my therapist actually suggested it as a grounding practice??
at first I was like... this is kinda woo woo lol. but now I do a daily pull every morning and it genuinely helps me check in with myself. like the cards give me a framework to think about what I'm feeling
the hermit has been coming up a lot lately and it's made me realize I need more alone time to recharge. stuff I probably would have ignored before
has anyone else found that spiritual practices actually helped their mental health? not as a replacement for actual help obviously but like... as a complement?
yes absolutely!! journaling with my cards has been huge for me. my therapist calls it 'externalized self-reflection' which sounds fancy but basically means the cards help me see patterns I was too close to notice
the hermit showing up a lot makes so much sense for what you described. sometimes we need permission to slow down and it feels like the cards give us that
What a beautiful practice you've developed. The cards as a mirror for our inner landscape - that's exactly what they're meant to be.
I've worked with many people who use tarot alongside therapy, and the combination can be so powerful. The cards bypass our logical defenses and speak directly to intuition. Sometimes we know what we need but our anxious mind won't let us hear it.
The Hermit is such a gentle teacher. He doesn't demand isolation - he invites introspection. Trust what he's showing you.
this is so real. I have adhd and doing a morning card pull helps me like... actually pause before the chaos of the day starts lol. even if I don't fully 'believe' in it the ritual itself is calming
also love that your therapist suggested it! mine just kinda smiled when I mentioned astrology but didn't shut it down
following this thread because I've been curious about starting something similar. I do meditation but it's hard for me to quiet my mind. wondering if cards would give me something to focus on instead
omg I love all these responses. @WillowBreeze that's exactly how it works for me - having something tangible to look at and think about is way easier than trying to think about nothing
and yeah the ritual aspect is huge. even on days when the card doesn't resonate, just taking that moment helps
