how do you read the eight of swords reversed differently than upright?

ok this card confuses me every time lol

upright eight of swords is basically feeling trapped/stuck right? self-imposed restriction, cant see a way out even tho the ropes arent even tied that tight

but reversed... does it mean youre FINALLY seeing the way out? or does it mean youre digging the hole deeper and refusing to see it??

i've seen both interpretations online and now im more stuck than the card itself lol. how do you personally tell the difference when you pull it reversed?

The cards whisper something different depending on where you are in the story, sweet one.

When the Eight of Swords appears reversed, I look at what surrounds it. If it sits near cards of release or clarity, it usually means you're finally cutting through the blindfold, seeing exits that were always there. If it sits near cards of denial or repetition, it can mean you're choosing the familiar prison over the unknown freedom.

Ask yourself honestly: am I ready to remove the blindfold, or am I comfortable being unable to see?

for me it's always been about which direction i FEEL when i see it. if pulling it feels like relief, its the release version. if it feels heavy and annoying, its usually the 'still stuck and know it' version lol

this thread is helpful bc i just pulled it reversed today and was so confused. gonna sit with how it actually feels instead of googling every possible meaning
