ok so I've been doing tarot for about 6 months now and I feel like I'm forgetting so much from my readings
I want to start journaling but idk where to even begin? like do you write down every card? do you have specific prompts you use? do you track patterns over time?
would love to hear how everyone else does it. feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options lol
ok so I was exactly where you are about a year ago and honestly just starting simple helped me the most
I do like a 5-minute thing after each reading: date, question I asked, cards I pulled, and then one sentence about what stood out emotionally. that's it. no deep analysis required lol
the pattern tracking thing is SO worth it though. I started noticing the same few cards showing up in clusters and it genuinely helped me understand what I was going through at certain times in my life. way more useful than trying to interpret each card in isolation
for prompts, I eventually added: 'what am I resisting here?' after the initial notes. that one question unlocked so much for me
don't stress about doing it perfectly. even messy notes are better than nothing!
omg I was literally googling this exact thing last week lol
what helped me was stopping trying to write a "complete" entry. now I just do: date, what I was feeling before I pulled, the card(s), and one word that came to mind first. that's it.
the one-word thing is actually wild because when I go back and read my entries months later, those gut-reaction words are SO much more accurate than the long explanations I used to write
also +1 to tracking patterns over time - I started using little colored dots (stickers from the dollar store lol) to mark cards by suit and now I can literally see which suit dominates different periods of my life. cups have been everywhere for me lately which... checks out honestly
omg i went through this exact thing last year!! i was so overwhelmed trying to figure out the "right" way to journal
what finally clicked for me: i only write down 3 things. the card i pulled, one word that jumped out at me, and one thing i want to sit with. takes like 2 minutes and i actually do it consistently now
if i notice the same card showing up a lot i'll write a little more but otherwise i keep it super simple. perfectionism was killing my practice before i let go of doing it "properly" lol
