ok so I did a 3-card spread about whether to leave my job and got:
past: 6 of pentacles present: 8 of swords outcome: The Hanged Man reversed
I've been reading tarot for like a year but this one has me stumped?? the hanged man upright I get — pause, surrender, seeing things differently. but REVERSED in the outcome spot... does that mean the waiting period is ending? or that I'm refusing to pause and it's gonna bite me??
some sources say reversed hanged man = stagnation/refusing to let go. but if it's in the OUTCOME position that seems bad?? like am I just gonna stay stuck forever lol
any help would be genuinely so appreciated, I've been staring at this spread for two days
omg the 8 of swords in the present position with hanged man reversed outcome... that combo is interesting
I would read the reversed hanged man here as movement finally coming after feeling trapped. like the swords blindfold is coming off
What a rich spread — the cards are whispering something important here.
The Hanged Man reversed in the outcome position often means the pause is ending, not beginning. You've been suspended (8 of swords, feeling trapped) and the reversal signals release from that in-between space.
But here's the nuance: it can also mean resistance to the necessary waiting. Ask yourself — are you feeling pressure to rush this decision before you're truly ready? The 6 of pentacles in the past suggests you've experienced give-and-take with resources or support. Your inner knowing already has the answer.
Trust what comes up when you sit quietly with the spread. The Hanged Man reversed rarely means permanent stagnation — it's usually a nudge to stop overthinking and let yourself move. 🌿
I pulled hanged man reversed last month in an advice position and was confused too. ended up journaling about it and realized I had already made my decision, I just didn't want to admit it
maybe your gut already knows what to do about the job??
ok update: I sat with this for a few more days and I think Sarah K is right — I've already been sitting with this decision long enough and the card is basically telling me to stop circling and actually move. putting in my notice next week. thank you all so much 💫
