ok so I did a simple 3-card spread about whether to reach out to someone I've been avoiding talking to for a while. past/present/advice.
the advice card came up as four of cups REVERSED and I'm honestly not sure what to do with that??
like I know four of cups upright is about withdrawal and missing opportunities. so reversed I'm guessing it means... open up? stop sitting with my feelings and actually DO something?
but I'm overthinking it probably lol. the situation is that there's someone I had a falling out with like 6 months ago and I've been going back and forth about whether to reach out or just let it go. I've been kind of stuck in my head about it and not taking any action either way
does the reversed four of cups as advice literally mean "stop withdrawing and engage"? or is there a nuance I'm missing
any help appreciated, still pretty new to reading for myself
The cards whisper so clearly here, and I love that you're paying attention!
Four of Cups reversed in the advice position is such a beautiful signal. You're right in your instinct - upright, this card is about turning inward, being too wrapped up in your own thoughts to notice what's being offered. Reversed, it's nudging you to lift your gaze.
The advice is: stop the internal loop. You've been sitting with this long enough. The card isn't telling you the outcome will be perfect - it's saying the energy of waiting and ruminating isn't serving you anymore.
Trust your inner knowing here. The fact that you drew this card suggests you already sense it's time to open back up to possibilities, even if the result of reaching out is just... closure. That counts too.
What does your gut say when you imagine actually sending that message?
omg yes I think you're reading it right!! reversed four of cups is literally like "come back to life" energy
it's the card snapping you out of the funk. as advice I'd take it as a green light to reach out, or at minimum to stop avoiding the decision
I pulled four of cups reversed last year around a similar situation - someone I'd had a falling out with. I took it as advice to at least get out of my head and make a CHOICE instead of staying stuck.
I ended up reaching out. It went better than I expected honestly. We didn't become close again but we cleared the air and I stopped carrying that weird weight around. Would recommend just... doing something lol
thank you all so much this is really helpful!! Sarah K that question you asked kind of hit me... my gut actually does say it's time. I think I've been using "I'm still deciding" as an excuse to stay comfortable
going to draft a message later today. wish me luck 🙏
