ok so I've been doing readings about this situationship I'm in and today I pulled the five of wands reversed in the present position
from what I know the upright five of wands is all about conflict and competition... so reversed would mean the conflict is ending? or does it mean you're avoiding the conflict?
honestly I can't tell if this is hopeful or a warning lol. the tension between us has been real but idk if it's finally settling down or if one of us is just giving up and bottling things inside
anyone pulled this in a love reading before? how did you interpret it?
Oh this is such a nuanced card in love readings! The five of wands reversed can go a few ways...
If the conflict has been external (arguments, misunderstandings, competing needs), reversed can absolutely signal that tension is finally releasing. There's a willingness to stop fighting and start actually hearing each other.
But if the conflict has been mostly unspoken? Then yes, reversed can sometimes mean avoidance rather than resolution. One or both people sweeping things under the rug rather than addressing them.
The real question to sit with: has there been genuine conversation happening, or has the tension just gone quiet? That'll tell you which meaning fits.
I pulled this exact card in the same position last year!! for me it ended up meaning the push-pull energy was finally winding down and we actually had a real talk
but Sarah K's point about avoidance is real too... I've also seen it come up when someone (me lol) was just tired of fighting and went quiet instead of resolving things
following this thread!! I always find the five of wands so confusing in love readings because like... is competition in a relationship ever actually good?? lol
ok update: we actually ended up having a really open conversation about where things were at and it felt SO much lighter after. I think it was definitely the "tension releasing" version
thank you all for helping me think through it instead of just hoping for the best lol
