ok so I've pulled the hermit like twenty times in the last year, always upright, always this whole "go inward, take some space" vibe
but last night I did a solo reading about a friendship that's been kind of one-sided lately and the hermit came out REVERSED for the first time ever
my gut reaction was uh oh. like isolation, avoidance, loneliness... all the scary stuff
but then I started reading up on it and some sources say it's more about being pulled out of solitude before you're ready, or ignoring your own need for space? which is honestly kind of the opposite of what I expected
has anyone else had their "go-to" card flip on them like this. does reversed always mean the bad version or is it more nuanced than that
Oh I love when a familiar card flips like that - it's the deck's way of getting your attention!
The Hermit reversed isn't automatically the "scary" version. It often shows up when you're either avoiding needed alone time (staying busy so you don't have to sit with your thoughts) or when you've been isolating longer than is healthy and it's time to re-emerge.
Given you were asking about a one-sided friendship, I'd read this less as "you're doomed to be lonely" and more as an invitation to notice: are you retreating from this friendship because you need space, or because you're avoiding an honest conversation? Trust your inner knowing - the answer is probably already there.
wait this happened to me with the star of all cards lol. pulled it reversed for the first time after getting it upright like every single reading for months. definitely threw me for a loop
reversed doesn't automatically mean bad imo, more like... the energy is blocked or turned inward in a different way. context matters so much
ok update - I think it was more about me avoiding a hard conversation than anything scary. talked to my friend today and we actually cleared some stuff up. feeling better about it now
