so I've been doing tarot for like 2 months now, still pretty new to this.
pulled the eight of cups reversed today asking about whether to keep pushing on a passion project that's been kind of stalling out
googled it after and everything I found made it sound like Bad News??? like "stagnation" "fear of moving on" "stuck in a bad situation and refusing to leave" etc
is it seriously always this doom and gloom or am I missing something. genuinely asking bc I don't wanna spiral over one card lol
Oh friend, reversed cards get such a bad reputation and the Eight of Cups reversed is a great example of why that's not fair to them.
Upright, the Eight of Cups is about walking away - leaving something behind even though it's hard, because deep down you know it isn't fulfilling you anymore. Reversed doesn't flip that into disaster. Most often it's showing you're staying stuck out of fear, or that you're already circling back to something you thought you'd left.
But it can also mean you're finally ready to return to what you walked away from with clearer eyes, or that you're hesitating right at the edge of a decision.
With your passion project, I'd ask: is the stalling because you're afraid to fully commit, or afraid to finally let it go? The card is pointing at that fork, not telling you which way to go. Trust your inner knowing here - you probably already know which one it is.
wait this is so helpful bc I always assumed reversed = automatically worse than upright. good to know that's not really how it works
omg I got this exact card a few months ago about a friendship I'd basically checked out of. reversed for me meant I was avoiding the actual conversation instead of just quietly drifting away.
ended up finally talking to my friend about it and we're actually closer now bc we cleared the air. so yeah not doom and gloom at all in my experience
ok that makes so much sense actually. I think I've just been scared to fully commit tbh, not scared to quit. gonna sit with that for a bit. thanks all this actually helped a lot
