ok so I'm pretty new to tarot (like 3 months in) and today I pulled the eight of wands reversed for a general reading I was doing for myself
I've seen the eight of wands upright before and it always felt like this exciting rush of energy, things moving fast, good news coming. so when I got it reversed I immediately panicked a little lol
does reversed automatically mean the opposite of all that? like... things slowing down, delays, bad news?
or is it more nuanced than that? I feel like I'm reading a lot of conflicting things online and I can't tell if reversed cards are just "the bad version" of the upright or if there's more to it
oh I had the exact same confusion when I started!! reversed does NOT automatically mean bad, promise
for eight of wands reversed specifically I've usually read it as energy that's kind of... bottled up? or waiting for the right moment. like the momentum is still there it just hasn't launched yet
Welcome to the reversed card rabbit hole! This is such a great question and one I get a lot from newer readers.
The cards whisper context, not verdicts. Eight of Wands reversed isn't a "bad" card - it's the upright energy asking to be examined more closely. That rushing, unstoppable force? Reversed, it might be asking: are you moving in the right direction, or just moving fast?
Some ways to read it: scattered energy, delays that turn out to be blessings, or needing to slow down and aim before you fire. Trust your inner knowing - what felt true to you when you flipped that card?
this is literally me when I started reading lol. I used to dread reversals so much
honestly the reframe that helped me most was thinking of reversals as the card whispering instead of shouting. same message, just quieter or turned inward
ok this is SO helpful you guys, thank you!! the "whispering instead of shouting" thing really clicked for me
I sat with it more and I think it might actually be pointing at a project I've been rushing through without really thinking. maybe the delay IS the message lol
