ok so I've been reading for about 2 years and the hanged man reversed always confused me?? like upright I get it - surrender, wait, see things from a new angle. but reversed I always just thought "ok so... don't surrender? rush ahead?" and it never felt right
then a few months ago I kept putting off a decision about changing careers. kept saying I needed more time, more info, more clarity. pulled a card every week asking about it and the hanged man reversed kept coming up as this little nag
and one day I finally sat with it and realized - the reversed meaning isn't "stop waiting" it's "you're using waiting as an EXCUSE"
like the upright hanged man waits because there's genuine wisdom in pausing. but the reversed version shows up when you're stalling because you're scared. it's not patience anymore, it's avoidance
that realization was kind of embarrassing honestly lol. I had all the information I needed. I was just scared to commit
did anyone else have a "finally I GET it" moment with this card? curious if others read it the same way or differently
Oh this is such a beautiful breakthrough! The cards whisper what we already know but aren't ready to hear...
You've landed on something really profound. The Hanged Man reversed isn't about urgency - it's about recognizing when 'waiting for clarity' becomes a way of staying comfortable with uncertainty instead of doing the work.
I love asking clients: 'Is this pause purposeful or protective?' That distinction changes everything. Trust your inner knowing - you clearly have good instincts with these cards.
omg yes!! mine was with the 8 of swords reversed. I kept reading it as 'the mental prison is lifting' but then realized it was more like 'you have the key, you're just not using it'
it's the same energy you're describing - the card pointing back at you like 'you know what to do'
wait this is exactly how I read it too but I couldn't have explained it this clearly
'patience vs avoidance' is such a good framework honestly. saving this thread
did you end up making the career change?? I'm kind of in the same situation rn and pulling this card feels very pointed lol
haha yes I did!! took a few more weeks to actually do it but I sent the application. still early days but I feel so much better just having made the decision
@CosmicDreamer the card is definitely side-eyeing you lol
