ok so I did a full celtic cross spread asking about a situation at work and I got the eight of swords reversed in the crossing position (card 2)
like I know the crossing card is supposed to be what's blocking me or working against me, but the eight of swords reversed is already about like... breaking free from mental traps or releasing fears right?
so does that mean my own self-liberation is blocking me somehow?? that makes no sense to me lol
or do I read the crossing position differently when it's reversed? I'm so confused
the rest of the spread was pretty positive so now I don't know what to make of the whole thing
ooh celtic cross is so tricky with reversals honestly. the crossing position reversed can sometimes mean the energy is delayed or turned inward rather than actively blocking you
What a nuanced question! The cards whisper something interesting here...
When a reversal appears in the crossing position, I read it as the shadow of that energy - so the eight of swords reversed as a crossing card could mean you've STARTED to break free from mental limitations, but there's still some residual mental chatter or fear of reclaiming your power that's tangling things up.
Basically: you're not fully trapped anymore, but you haven't fully stepped out either. The hesitation to trust your own liberation is what's creating friction.
With a positive rest of the spread, this feels like the universe saying - you're closer than you think. Trust your inner knowing and take the next small step.
Sarah K nailed it honestly. I got 8 of swords reversed in a really similar position once and it took me a while to realize the 'block' was my own doubt about whether I was reading the situation right lol
omg thank you all so much. the 'hesitation to trust your own liberation' thing really clicked for me. I think I've been second-guessing myself at work instead of just going for it
feels a lot clearer now!
