asked about where things are heading with someone I've been seeing for a few months and pulled the eight of cups reversed as the outcome card
I thought reversed eight of cups was supposed to be like... staying somewhere you should leave? or maybe forcing something that isn't working?
but some sites say it can also mean finally deciding to stay and work through stuff instead of running away. which is literally the opposite meaning lol
how do you all read it when it shows up reversed in a relationship context? feeling kind of stuck on this one
ugh I feel this, i got the same card in a similar reading last month. for me it ended up meaning i needed to actually have the hard conversation instead of just quietly deciding to stay or go in my head lol
Oh this is such a tender one to sit with. The Eight of Cups upright is about walking away from something that no longer serves you - so reversed, you're right that it often points to staying, but the KEY question is why you're staying.
Ask yourself: am I staying because I'm working through something real, or because I'm afraid of the empty space that leaving would create? Both meanings you mentioned are true - the card just asks you to be honest about which one is happening for you.
Trust your inner knowing here. Your gut usually already knows the answer, even if your head is still arguing.
the 'why are you staying' framing sarah mentioned is so good. I always used to read reversed eight of cups as automatically bad news but honestly reframing it that way helped me stop panicking every time it shows up
