ok so I was doing a reading asking how I should approach this situation with my family (long story, we've been kind of disconnected for a while) and the advice card I pulled was the ten of cups reversed
like... the happy family card but reversed?? as advice??
I've been sitting with this for a few days and I genuinely cannot figure out what it's telling me to do. is it saying lower my expectations? stop chasing the perfect family image? let go of some idealized version of what I want things to look like?
or is it more about something internal, like I'm the one blocking the happiness somehow?
idk I'm probably overthinking it but this one really threw me. would love to hear how other people would interpret this
Oh this is such a rich card to receive as advice, even reversed!
The cards whisper something important here - the Ten of Cups reversed as advice often means: release the image of what happiness should look like in order to find what actually makes you happy.
You might be holding a picture-perfect idea of family harmony that doesn't match reality, and the card is asking you to let that idealized vision soften. Real connection rarely looks like the storybook version.
Trust your inner knowing on what authentic reconnection would actually feel like for you - not what it's supposed to look like from the outside.
the 'stop chasing the perfect image' interpretation makes so much sense to me honestly
I got the ten of cups reversed once when I was trying to force closeness with someone and it felt like the cards were saying like... you can't manufacture this, it has to grow naturally
wait this actually helped me understand a reading I did last week too. I always thought reversed cards in advice positions just meant 'don't do the upright version' but it's so much more nuanced than that
following this thread!
Sarah K thank you so much, this really clicked for me. especially the part about releasing the image vs the actual feeling
I think I have been kind of fixating on what a close family 'should' look like based on like... idk, old memories or something. maybe the card is nudging me to just show up and see what connection is possible without all those expectations attached
feeling a lot better about this reading now ngl
