ok so i was doing a reading about whether i should leave my current job. asked specifically for advice and pulled the eight of swords reversed
i know upright eight of swords is like... trapped, blindfolded, can't see a way out. so reversed should be positive right? like breaking free?
but what does it mean as ADVICE? like is it literally telling me to leave? or is it saying i just think i'm more stuck than i am and i need to change my perspective first?
my deck's guidebook just says 'release, clarity, seeing truth' but that doesn't really help me decide anything lol
anyone read this card in the advice position before?
Oh this is such a rich card to pull as advice! The cards whisper something important here...
Eight of swords reversed in the advice position is telling you that the prison you're in is largely mental. The blindfold is coming off. The ropes are looser than you think.
It's not necessarily saying 'quit tomorrow' - it's saying: you have more options than you're allowing yourself to see. The advice is to first release whatever story you've been telling yourself about being stuck (fear of change, financial worries, what people will think).
Once you do that inner work, the right action will become obvious. Trust your inner knowing on this one.
i pulled this same card when i was agonizing over ending a situationship last year. felt like advice to stop being my own worst enemy basically
not necessarily DO the thing, more like... stop letting fear be the one making decisions for you
the way i read reversed advice cards is asking 'what would the upright version warn against?' and then flipping it
upright 8 of swords = staying blind and trapped. reversed as advice = don't stay blind and trapped lol. pretty direct honestly
ok this is really helpful thank you everyone. i think what's clicking for me is the 'you're not as stuck as you think' angle
i've been treating leaving as this impossible scary thing but i haven't even updated my resume or looked at what's out there. maybe the card is just telling me to start there and see what happens
