okay so I did a small pull asking for advice on whether to keep practicing this skill i've been trying to learn (photography, kind of freelance-adjacent) and got the eight of pentacles reversed as the advice card
i know upright eight of pentacles is like, keep grinding, master your craft, practice practice practice. so reversed... is it telling me to STOP? like this isn't worth the effort?
or is it more like a warning against burnout / cutting corners? i've def been rushing through edits lately instead of really learning the technique properly
kinda spiraling on this lol any input welcome
Oh, the cards whisper something gentle here, not a stop sign.
The Eight of Pentacles reversed rarely means abandon the craft. It's far more often a caution against rushing - cutting corners, comparing your pace to others, or burning out before real mastery sets in.
Ask yourself honestly: are you practicing to learn, or practicing to finish? Slow down and let the skill actually land. The dedication you're worried about losing is still there - it just needs room to breathe.
omg i got this same card for something totally different last year and it was 100% the burnout warning for me. slow down but don't quit is what I took from it
wait did you feel like you were cutting corners before you even pulled the card? because that's kind of wild if the deck called it out like that
update: i slowed wayyy down on my last few edits and honestly the quality jumped so much. glad i didn't just quit lol, needed the nudge to actually slow down instead of rushing through everything
