asked specifically about whether i should keep pushing to fix things with my partner or just let it go, and pulled the devil reversed.
my first reaction was relief tbh, like oh good it's not saying im trapped forever. but then i started overthinking whether it means the relationship itself is the unhealthy attachment i need to release, or if it's more about ME letting go of old patterns (jealousy, control, whatever) that are messing things up between us
like is it telling me to leave or telling me to fix myself first lol. those feel like very different answers
has anyone gotten this card for a similar situation? how did you figure out which reading was right for you
This is such a good question and honestly, the card usually isn't choosing between those two things for you - it's pointing at whatever chain you're most aware of right now.
Devil reversed about a relationship almost always means awareness is already breaking the spell. You're seeing the pattern clearly enough to ask the question, which is the actual shift. Sit with it a few days: does your mind go first to 'the relationship is the trap' or 'my own habits are the trap'? Whichever one you flinch at a little is probably the truer answer.
Trust your inner knowing here more than any single card meaning.
omg i got this exact card for a similar question a while back. for me it ended up being about my own insecurity/control stuff, not the relationship itself. once i actually worked on that the relationship got so much better
following this thread because i have never been able to tell the difference between 'this situation is the chain' vs 'you are the chain' with this card either lol
update: talked to my partner about the control/jealousy stuff instead of just deciding to bail, and it actually opened up a really honest conversation. we're working on it together now which feels way better than either extreme i was stuck between
