ok so I've been seeing this Leo for about 4 months and I genuinely don't know if I want to scream or kiss him half the time lol
like the chemistry is undeniable. we could talk for hours and it feels electric. but then he'll do something so... dramatic? and I just go cold and detached and he thinks I don't care and then it's a whole thing
I'm a pretty classic Aquarius I think - I need my independence, I get overstimulated by too much emotional intensity, and I tend to analyze everything from a distance. and Leos just... don't do distance??
the way he lights up a room is genuinely one of my favorite things about him. but sometimes I feel like he needs more from me than I naturally give, and I don't know if that's something I can change or if it's just... who I am
anyone else dating a Leo? how do you handle the push-pull thing without one of you always feeling like they're not getting what they need?
omg this is literally my situationship from last year!! the electric connection is SO real but yeah the emotional gap is no joke
what helped me was just being upfront about my detachment thing early on. like "I go quiet when I'm overwhelmed, it's not about you." my Leo appreciated knowing it was a me thing not a rejection thing
This is one of the most fascinating pairings in the zodiac - Leo and Aquarius are directly opposite each other on the wheel, which creates that magnetic pull you're describing. Opposites attract because you each carry what the other lacks.
Leo rules the personal - self-expression, warmth, the need to be seen. Aquarius rules the collective - ideas, independence, emotional distance as a form of objectivity. The tension isn't a flaw in the pairing, it's literally the point.
What I'd encourage you to look at: can you offer your Leo verbal acknowledgment even when you can't offer full emotional presence? Something like "I see you, I just need a moment" goes a long way. And in return, a mature Leo can learn that Aquarius pulling back isn't abandonment - it's how they process.
The pairing works when both people stop expecting the other to be a different sign.
jumping in as the leo in a similar situation (except I'm dating an aquarius lol)
from my side, it's like... I know she doesn't mean to go cold. I've learned to read it as her processing, not rejection. but it took a while to get there honestly
what helped us was talking about it when things were calm and good, not in the middle of a moment. I told her I needed more verbal reassurance and she told me she needed space to think before responding to big emotional conversations. felt really simple once we both said it out loud
the chemistry you're describing is so real btw. it's worth figuring out
ok so I showed him MarcusAstro's reply (hope that's ok lol) and he was genuinely fascinated
we ended up having this whole conversation about how he experiences love vs. how I do and it was... actually really good? he said he never thought about it as him needing to be a source of warmth for people, he just thought he was being annoying. and I told him I don't go cold because I don't care, I go cold because I care TOO much and need to regulate
@leo_lover_29 the "talk when things are calm" thing is such good advice. we tend to try to hash everything out in the heat of the moment which goes nowhere
still figuring it out but feeling way more hopeful than when I posted this. thanks everyone genuinely
just wanted to update this since a couple people have messaged me - things are actually really good now. we made a rule that if either of us is going quiet we just say something like "i need a minute, not going anywhere" so it doesn't turn into a whole spiral. still not naturally easy for me but it helps so much that he knows it's not about him
omg reading this whole thread, i'm an aquarius dating a leo rn too and the "not going anywhere" phrase is genius, stealing that immediately lol. the push pull thing is so real
