ok so ive been reading tarot for like 6 months now and I feel pretty good with 3-card spreads. decided to try the celtic cross because everyone says its the "real deal" and honestly... im lost lol
the first few positions make sense (present situation, challenge, etc) but once I get to positions 7-10 I just stare at the cards and have no idea how they connect to everything else??
like yesterday I pulled the tower in position 5 (recent past) and the star in position 10 (final outcome) and I could read those individually but putting the WHOLE spread together into one coherent story feels impossible
how long did it take you guys to feel comfortable with the celtic cross? am I just being impatient or should I stick to simpler spreads for now
any tips for making the upper positions click would be amazing
omg I was literally in the same spot a few months ago!! the celtic cross felt so overwhelming at first
what helped me was writing out each position BEFORE I even flip the cards. like literally write "position 7: how I see myself in this situation" on a piece of paper. then when you flip, you already have the context right there
also dont try to connect all 10 at once. start with pairs - positions 1+2 together, then 3+5 (past stuff), then 7+8 (internal vs external). building the story in chunks made it way more manageable for me
honestly I think the celtic cross gets hyped up too much as something you NEED to master. ive been reading for 3 years and I still prefer smaller spreads most of the time lol
but if you wanna get better at it, my tip is to photograph every celtic cross you do and journal about it. go back a week later and re-read it - youll be surprised how much clearer it looks with hindsight
the thing that finally made it click for me was thinking of positions 7-10 as a mini spread of their own. like positions 1-6 are the SITUATION and 7-10 are the ADVICE
7 = your attitude 8 = other peoples influence 9 = your hopes/fears 10 = where its all heading
once I started reading that right column as its own little story it made so much more sense
wait ok the pairing idea and the "two mini spreads" thing are both so helpful?? im going to try both tonight
also the journaling tip is great, I already journal my 3-card pulls so ill just do the same thing. thank you all sm this community is the best
