ok I've seen so many posts about water sign couples being "too emotional" or "codependent" and I just want to share a different perspective because my scorpio and I have been together for 3 years and honestly?? it's the healthiest relationship I've ever been in
I'm a cancer sun and I always thought I needed someone more "grounded" to balance me out. tried dating a few earth signs and it just felt like they didn't GET me on a deep level, you know?
then I met my scorpio and something just clicked immediately. like... he understood things about me I hadn't even said out loud yet lol
here's what I think actually makes it work for us:
the hardest part was early on - two people who feel deeply but express differently can have some standoffs lol. I shut down, he went silent. we had to learn each other's language
but once we got past that learning curve? honestly feels like we were built to understand each other
anyone else in a water-water relationship? would love to hear other experiences
omg this is so wholesome!! I'm a scorpio dating a cancer and YES to all of this
the part about neither of you downplaying emotions is huge. my last relationship was with a sag and I always felt like "too much"
Love seeing this! From an astrological perspective, Cancer-Scorpio compatibility is actually one of the strongest water sign pairings because you share the same elemental mode without sharing the same modality - Cancer is cardinal, Scorpio is fixed.
What that means in practice: Cancer brings the initiating energy (starting conversations, creating the home base) while Scorpio provides the staying power and depth. You're complementary without being identical.
The early shutdown/silent treatment pattern you described is textbook water sign conflict avoidance - both signs feel deeply and protect themselves by withdrawing. The key is what you figured out: developing a shared language for when you need space vs. when you're actually pulling away.
Three years in and thriving is no accident - that's real work paying off.
this thread!! I'm a cancer and I've been hesitant about a scorpio guy because everyone says it's "too intense"
but what you said about finally feeling understood... that's exactly what I've been missing
water sign couple here too (pisces + scorpio) and the emotional depth thing is SO true. wouldn't trade it for anything even if we do have our dramatic moments lol
aw thank you all for the responses!! @StargazerJen honestly just go for it, the "too intense" thing is just people who want surface-level connection projecting lol
@MarcusAstro the cardinal/fixed breakdown is so helpful to see written out like that, it really does describe our dynamic perfectly
