ok so I'm a virgo sun and I am SO tired of people expecting me to be this nitpicky perfectionist who tears everyone apart lol
like yes I notice things. yes I have opinions. but I genuinely don't go around criticizing my friends and family all day?? idk where this reputation came from
my best friend (a leo) is like 10x more blunt and opinionated than I am but nobody makes it her whole personality type
anybody else feel like this stereotype is way overblown? or am I just the rare non-critical virgo
omg YES. my boyfriend is a virgo and he's honestly one of the least judgmental people I know. like he'll notice if something's off but he almost never says anything unless you ask him directly
I think it depends a lot on the rest of the chart honestly. like a virgo with a scorpio rising might come across more intense but a virgo with a libra moon is gonna be way more chill about it
also sun signs only tell part of the story
idk I've met some very critical virgos lmaooo BUT I've also met some who are totally chill. I think the stereotype exists because when a virgo DOES critique something they are... very thorough about it 😭 like it's not mean it's just very detailed
same energy as "all scorpios are manipulative" or "all geminis are two-faced". the stereotypes are so reductive

I think the "critical" thing comes from the fact that when we DO say something, it's specific and detailed. like we're not gonna say "ugh that's bad" we'll actually explain WHY with examples. and people read that as harsh even when we're just being... thorough??
but nit picking everything all day? no. I literally bite my tongue constantly bc I know not everything needs a comment
thank you all for this honestly, makes me feel so much less alone lol. i think ocean_child's comparison to the scorpio/gemini stereotypes is exactly it - people just love picking one trait and running with it
as a leo married to a virgo I can confirm the 'thorough not mean' thing is real. she'll explain her reasoning for ten minutes and I used to think I was in trouble lol. now I just appreciate that she actually cares enough to explain
