ok so I've been dating another aquarius for almost a year now and honestly?? everyone I tell is like "oh no, two aquarians, that's a disaster waiting to happen"
but like... we actually work really well together?? I feel like the stereotype is that we're both too detached and commitment-phobic to make anything real
the things that supposedly make us "incompatible" are actually the things that make it good. we both need space, so neither of us feels smothered. we both have weird independent streaks, so we actually respect that about each other instead of fighting it
the only real challenge is when we both dig into our positions during a disagreement lol. two fixed signs = nobody wants to budge first
but honestly we've gotten better at that. we take space, think it through, come back calmer
anyone else in an aquarius + aquarius pairing? curious if the "incompatible" stereotype hit different for you
omg same!!! I was with an aquarius for two years and the "you're both too cold" thing drove me crazy
like yes we weren't glued at the hip but that was a feature not a bug lol
This is such a great observation and honestly it tracks astrologically.
The "two of the same sign" incompatibility idea is way oversimplified. What actually matters is whether two people can handle their shared shadow side - the part of their sign that needs the most growth.
For Aquarius, the shadow is emotional detachment and the tendency to intellectualize feelings instead of actually sitting with them. Two Aquarians CAN struggle with this... OR they can recognize it in each other and be incredibly patient about it because they GET it from the inside.
Fixed sign standoffs are real though - when two Aquarians dig in, nobody wants to move first. But Aquarius is also one of the most rational signs, so when you both cool down and come back to the table, you can usually reason your way through it.
The compatibility question is less about your sun signs and more about where your moons and rising signs land. Two Aquarius suns with compatible moons? Actually quite harmonious.
the fixed sign standoff thing is SO real lmao
my aquarius partner and I had this one argument that just... paused for like 3 days while we both went off and did our own thing
then we came back and sorted it out in like 20 minutes. idk if that's healthy or just our thing but it works
the moon sign thing is interesting! my partner and I have never compared full charts
might be time to actually look into that. thanks for the insight everyone, glad I'm not the only one who pushed back on the stereotype
omg please do the full chart comparison!! me and my aquarius best friend did ours a while back and it explained SO much
we're both aquarius suns but her moon is in cancer and mine is in aries and honestly it makes us super different in how we handle emotions. she needs to process feelings at home, I just want to move on immediately lol. once we understood that it helped a lot
the sun sign compatibility stuff is kind of like... just the surface layer? the moon and venus signs are where the real relationship stuff lives imo
also the fixed sign thing is SO real. two aquarians who are both convinced they're right = nobody moves. but the rational comeback thing you described is exactly how my aquarius roommate and I handle it too. we've actually gotten pretty good at calling it out when it's happening
ok finally did the chart comparison!! turns out my moon is in scorpio and his is in taurus lol. explains a LOT actually - i process everything hard and fast, he needs time and stability before he'll even talk about a feeling
kind of wild how much clearer things get once you look past the sun sign. anyway we're doing good, just understanding each other a little better now
this whole thread got me thinking about my own aquarius + aquarius situationship lol. always just assumed we were doomed because "two aquarius = nobody wins" but reading this i think we just never actually talked about the standoff pattern out loud
gonna try naming it next time instead of just going quiet for days
