ok so I know the common take is that two aquarians together is chaos because neither of you want to be "the emotional one" lol. and yeah, that's... kinda true at first.
but my partner and I have been together almost 3 years now and honestly? I think aquarius + aquarius might be underrated.
here's what I think actually makes it work for us:
we never have to explain WHY we need alone time. we both just get it. no guilt, no weird energy. you need a night to yourself? cool, me too.
the intellectual connection is next level. like we can spend hours going down random rabbit holes together and neither of us gets bored or thinks the other is "too much"
we're both low-drama by nature. disagreements happen but we deal with them and move on. neither of us wants to sit in bad feelings.
the hard part was figuring out who initiates emotional conversations because we'd both just... not. lol. we actually had to make a rule that neither of us gets to just go quiet when something's bothering us.
anyone else in an aquarius/aquarius relationship? does any of this resonate?
the alone time thing!! YES. my aquarius bf and I have been together 2 years and people always ask how we're so chill about spending time apart. I'm like... we understand each other?? we're not joined at the hip and that's fine
This is such a good observation and honestly tracks astrologically.
Aquarius is ruled by both Saturn and Uranus - Saturn gives structure and loyalty, Uranus drives the need for independence and novelty. Two Aquarians together can actually balance those energies quite well when both partners understand the underlying dynamic.
The emotional communication challenge you mentioned is real though. Aquarius is a fixed air sign, which means emotional expression doesn't always come naturally AND they can dig in when change is required. The fact that you two made an explicit agreement about it shows a lot of self-awareness.
Air + Air pairings tend to work best when both people are secure enough in themselves that they don't need the relationship to be their primary source of stimulation. Sounds like you've both got that down.
I'm an aquarius who dated another aquarius for like 8 months and it was amazing for exactly the reasons you describe. ended for other reasons (long distance) but I'd 100% date an aquarius again
the point about intellectual connection is so real. I haven't dated an aquarius but my two closest friends are both aquarius and we can talk about literally anything for hours. I can only imagine that in a romantic context
