so I turn 58 next month and I've been reading about the second saturn return... apparently it happens around 58-60?
I went through my first one in my late 20s and it was ROUGH. career change, ended a long relationship, total life overhaul basically.
now I'm wondering what this one might bring. retirement is on the horizon, kids are grown, and I keep feeling like there's something I'm supposed to be doing differently? idk how to explain it
would love to hear from anyone who's been through their second saturn return or is approaching it too. what was your experience like?
oh wow I'm 56 and starting to think about this too! my first one was also intense - moved across the country and went back to school
following this thread because I want to know what others experienced
The second Saturn return is really fascinating to study. While the first one (around 28-30) is often about establishing your foundation and figuring out who you are as an adult, the second return tends to be about legacy and wisdom.
Looking at it astrologically, Saturn asks us to take stock of what we've built. At 58-60, the questions shift from "what do I want to become?" to "what do I want to leave behind?"
That reflective feeling you're describing is very common. Many people find themselves drawn to mentoring, teaching, or passing on knowledge during this period. It's also a time when people often get more serious about their health and long-term wellbeing.
The house where your Saturn sits natally will give you clues about which life area wants your attention. If you know your chart, that's worth examining.
went through mine a few years ago! for me it was all about letting go of the need to prove myself to anyone. I finally stopped caring what people thought and started focusing on what actually matters to me
it wasn't as dramatic as my first saturn return but honestly? it was deeper. like a quiet restructuring
thank you all for these responses! @MarcusAstro that makes so much sense about legacy vs foundation. I do feel more focused on what I want to pass on rather than what I want to achieve
@GardenSage the "quiet restructuring" description really resonates. it does feel different from the first time - less chaotic but maybe more meaningful?
In all my years of practice, I've found the second Saturn return to be one of the most rewarding transits when approached consciously. The elder years have been so undervalued in modern culture, but Saturn rewards those who embrace this transition with grace.
My second return brought me back to teaching after years away from it. There's something about reaching that age where you finally feel you have something worth sharing.
Don't be surprised if old themes from your first return resurface - but now you'll have decades of wisdom to apply to them. Saturn tests us, but it also wants us to succeed.
